Yoofs - For Her

Part 10 of the Post Card Club sees a welcome return from Bournemouth based Yoofs, Other than one or two tracks that have sneaked out here and there, the band have not really been active for a year or two now. Instead they have been focusing on bringing many of our favourite bands to Dorset for their excellent ‘This Scene Isn’t Dead’ nights at Sixty Million Postcards.

In the intervening time between their last output and now, Yoofs seem to have worked on developing a cleaner sound. ‘For Her’ gives the impression that the band have spent the best part of 2013 enjoying the latest Ducktails album. For all it’s janglyness, the song is tinged with the sadness that comes with growing up and growing apart. Lines such as “you never said, the words inside your head, now they’re gone" only add to the consistent growing pains the song seems to encapsulate. Yoofs have just signed to Strong Island Recordings and are working on a full release due later this year.
