about

It was September 2010 and I was holidaying with the family in Cornwall. AIH had one release under our belts and we weren’t really sure where to go next. Whilst in the excellent Jam Records I happened across a local music section and amongst all the celtic folk and whimsical singer-songwriters was a demo by a band called The Black Tambourines, I was sold on the cover alone - a disheveled kid playing a disheveled drumkit.

Two months later I was ploughing £600 of my student loan into releasing our first 7" featuring The Black Tambourines. It didn’t sell particularly well but as with everything in this business - you live and learn. Another two months later and the band had traveled down to Exeter for the release party and their first ever gig outside Cornwall. It was an understated yet mesmerising performance. Skip forward two and a half years and The Black Tambourines have played every single gig we’ve ever put on, as well as giving us the pleasure of putting out their last release ‘Chica’ way back in December 2011.

Why the long anecdote? Sorry to get a bit soppy but it feels like we’ve been on a journey together. We often joke that if we hadn’t stumbled across each other, they would’ve split up and AIH would’ve never really taken off. Today we’re embarking on the next part of the journey, and we’re delighted to announce we will be releasing The Black Tambourines debut album.

The self titled album is due for release September 2nd and is available to pre-order on a variety of formats. In addition to releasing it as a 12" record, the album will also be available as a Tshirt and an iron-on patch - both of which come with an MP3 version of the album, delivered a week before the release date.
